ABOUT US


Karen Mercer
is the owner and Executive Director of Guided Visions Counseling Center.  Karen holds a Masters degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College of Maryland and an undergraduate degree in psychology from Purdue University, Indianapolis, Indiana.  Karen has over twenty years experience in counseling and social services with a focus in addiction, HIV and domestic violence. 

Karen believes in facilitating the healing of individuals and families.  She has developed group curriculum specific for African-American clients in an inpatient addiction treatment setting.  Karen developed one of the first HIV outreach programs in the state of Indiana specifically for African-Americans and their sexual partners at risk for HIV.  She has served on several state and federal work-groups.

Karen has received over 80 hours of training in domestic violence and most recently served as a facilitator for abuser intervention programs, utilizing the STOP (formerly DV2000) curriculum at SARC in Bel Air, MD.  She is a National Certified Counselor and a Certified Counselor - Alcohol and Drug.  She is a member of the American Counseling Association and the National Board of Certified Counselors and is working toward licensure.

Karen is certified to administer the Prepare/Enrich program inventories and provides pre-marital and marital workshops and couples work. 

Jennifer (Jen) Dudderar is the Clinical Director at Guided Visions Counseling Center and offers both individual and group therapy to clients of all ages.  Jen earned her Masters degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College of Maryland and an undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia.  Jen is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland and a National Certified Counselor.  Jen is also a member of the American Counseling Association and the National Board of Certified Counselors.

Jen works with young clients utilizing the therapeutic modality of non-directive play therapy and has specific experience working with children and adolescents who are the victims of sexual assault.  She also has experience working with adolescents and adults in the areas of anger management and mediation and has facilitated several adult and adolescent anger management groups.  
 

Jan Taylor is a Licensed Graduate Professional Counselor and is a graduate of Loyola College's Pastoral Counseling Program.  Ms. Taylor specializes in providing therapy to youth and families.  She holds a certificate in Effective Black Parenting Instruction and is also a Licensed Phyiscal Therapist.  Jan provides counseling services to adults as well as youth.
